Subramaniam is the dean of the Nazarian College of Business and Economics at Cal State Northridge. Before taking on this role, he worked as an engineer for National Semiconductor in Malaysia, his home country, before deciding to pursue a career and life in the U.S. He moved to Minnesota to study business, ultimately earning a doctorate in accounting. He has been a professor at several universities across various countries. His research centers on management incentives, executive compensation and corporate governance. Under his leadership at CSUN, Subramaniam has initiated new programs, including a major and minor in business analytics.
