President, Los Angeles Mission College
Ornelas is president of Los Angeles Mission College. Her extensive career within the Los Angeles Community College District includes roles as a political science faculty member and the vice president of instruction at East Los Angeles College. A native of East Los Angeles, she earned a double major in Chicana/o studies and sociology from UCLA, a master’s degree in public policy studies from the University of Chicago, and a doctorate from the UCLA School of Education.
