Founder, President, Richard Katz Consulting
Last year, the commissioners of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power elected Katz as their chairman. He is also the president of Richard Katz Consulting, a government relations firm that offers strategic advice, message development, negotiation and mediation for public and private clients. Katz spent 16 years in the California Assembly representing a Valley district. He was the state’s lead negotiator in the Colorado River Agreement. He also wrote the legislation that created the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, or Metro. After he termed out of the Assembly, Katz served as a member of the California State Water Resources Control Board from 2001 to 2006 and was on Metro’s board from 2005 to 2014.
