Founder, Chief Executive, Food Forward Inc.
Nahmias is the chief executive of Food Forward, an organization he founded in 2009. The nonprofit brings surplus fruits and vegetables to people experiencing food insecurity. Prior to founding Food Forward, Nahmias was an award-winning photographer and writer, focusing on marginalized communities. He also had formal training as a cook and wrote “The Migrant Project: Contemporary California Farm Workers.” He has spoken internationally about food justice and social innovation issues. He has also served as a regional delegate to the Slow Food/Terra Madre Conference in Torino and as a Ralph M. Parsons Fellow and has won Fast Pitch competitions for Food Forward in California and Texas and has won numerous awards.
