Golden Queen Adds to Board

Golden Queen Mining Co. Ltd. has named the founder of a copper producer to its board of directors. Paul Blythe joins the board of the Vancouver company and will add his experience in strategic planning, financing, governance and corporate social responsibility. Golden Queen is in a joint venture to operate its Soledad Mountain gold and silver mine just south of Mojave in the Antelope Valley. The mine began processing the precious metals last year. Blythe is the founder of Quadra FNX Mining, a Canadian company with six mines in the U.S., Canada and Chile. In 2012, the company was sold to Polish metals producer KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. for $3.5 billion. Chief Executive Thomas Clay called Blythe a valued addition to the board given his mining experience. “We believe that his expertise will assist the company as we move forward with our Soledad Mountain project and seek to build a sustainable, profitable business,” Clay said in a prepared statement. Golden Queen is a publicly traded company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange in Canada and the OTC Market in the United States. The Soledad mine is the company’s only asset. Shares closed Monday up half a cent, or a fraction of a percent, to 68 cents in over-the-counter trading.
