President, Chief Executive, California Institute
of the Arts
Rajan has been president of the California Institute of the Arts since 2017, making him the fourth president of the school. Before joining the institute, he lived and worked in New York City for 18 years. An accomplished musician, Rajan has extensive experience in art production, music, theater, dance and film. He has held several senior executive roles in higher education. In 2005, he served as assistant dean of art and design at Purchase College; he was later named dean of the arts school in 2012. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in London, a former member of the Tony Awards Nomination Committee, and president of the Asian American Arts Alliance.
