Stern has represented the 27th district since 2016, advocating for sustainable practices and safeguarding the state’s natural resources. He recently authored climate laws that establish the nation’s first requirements for large corporations to publicly disclose their greenhouse gas emissions, carbon embedded in supply chains, and climate risks. Following the devastating 2018 Woolsey fire, which destroyed his home, he wrote the Wildfire Resilience through Community and Ecology Act in 2021. This led to the creation of a task force aimed at identifying buildings at greater risk in wildfire zones. Stern is an Ex Officio member of the California Air Resources Board.
