O’Connell is the president and chief executive of California Credit Union, a prominent $5 billion financial institution headquartered in Glendale. The credit union serves 200,000 members through 25 retail branches. Under O’Connell’s leadership, the credit union achieved a member satisfaction survey score of 97% in 2024. During his tenure as the chief executive, the credit union expanded its community investment programs, donating over $2.5 million to local organizations in the past five years. O’Connell serves on the boards of trustees for Classroom for the Future, the Los Angeles Zoo and California Credit Union Foundation.
