– San Fernando Valley Glendale DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. has started an in-house printing division to release print and digital books featuring its animated characters. The Glendale studio behind the “Shrek,” “Kung Fu Panda,” and “Madagascar” franchises will begin distribution of the titles for this year’s holiday season. In addition to movie characters, the publishing division will use characters from the DreamWorks Classic portfolio. The 32-unit Winchester Apartments in Glendale sold for $8.1 million. The 1140 Winchester Ave. building was acquired by C & P Properties of Burbank. The property was built in 1987 and has no vacancies. It has subterranean parking and features a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom units with balconies. Burbank The Disney/ABC Television Group has reached an agreement to stream the final season of its “Star Wars” animated series on Netflix Inc. This is the third exclusive deal between entertainment and media giant Walt Disney Co. and Netflix of Los Gatos. “Star Wars: Clone Wars” represents the first time “Star Wars” related content has been made available to Netflix streaming members. The final season of 13 episodes, dubbed “The Lost Missions,” can be viewed by Netflix subscribers starting March 7. A multinational company that provides business-security systems has leased 18,000 square feet of creative office space in Burbank. Tyco Integrated Security LLC signed a 65-month lease at 100 E. Graham Place valued at more than $2.2 million. Tyco Integrated Security is headquartered in Boca Raton, Fla., and has more than 50 offices nationwide. It is a unit of Tyco International Ltd. of Switzerland. Startup entertainment technology company iL2M International Corp. has named founder Sarkis Tsaoussian as president and chief executive. Tsaoussian will set overall direction and business strategy for the Burbank company. He previously has been responsible for the business, creative, and product development teams. iL2M International is developing an app for users to manage all their social media, music and entertainment in a single hub. Sylmar The Village at Hubbard, a small community of 18 detached condominiums, opened last month in Sylmar. The 13435 Hubbard St. project was constructed by California Home Builders Inc. of Canoga Park. The homes include a solar electric generation system, energy-efficient heating and air-conditioning units, stainless steel appliances, two-car garages and more. Tutor Perini Corp. has won two contracts from the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority worth $844 million. The Sylmar construction firm will build portions of the East Side Access project, which will connect the Long Island Rail Road’s lines to a new terminal beneath Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan. Woodland Hills Northrop Grumman Corp. has won a U.S. Air Force contract worth up to $200 million to supply navigation and positioning equipment. The work will be performed by Northrop’s Navigation Systems division headquartered in Woodland Hills for the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps and Navy, as well as international customers. Northrop will supply the global positioning and inertial navigation systems devices through December 2018. Sherman Oaks Space thriller “Gravity” received six honors at the Visual Effects Society Awards this month, the most of any nominee. Among the categories the film won in was outstanding visual effects in a visual effects-driven feature motion picture. That category is the Sherman Oaks society’s equivalent of the Best Visual Effects category at the Academy Awards. “Frozen,” produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios, in Burbank, won four awards, including outstanding animation in an animated feature motion picture, among others. Valley Village The 71-unit Villa Fontaine apartment building in Valley Village has sold for $14.2 million. The two-story, 11850 Riverside Drive complex was built on less than an acre in 1970 and has no vacancy, according to real estate data firm CoStar Group Inc. The building is a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments that include patios, ceiling fans and dishwashers. Select units have walk-in closets and fireplaces. The complex has controlled access, two elevators, a swimming pool and several laundry rooms. – Conejo Valley Thousand Oaks A subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies Inc. received a $60 million contract from NASA to build a section of the space agency’s new Orion launch vehicle for deep space missions. Teledyne Brown Engineering, in Huntsville, Ala., will design and manufacture the section of the Space Launch System connecting the core rocket stage with the rocket engine, which would propel the Orion crew and service modules to the moon or even Mars. Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center has signed a partnership agreement to bring the USC Institute of Urology to its Thousand Oaks campus. The collaboration will enable robotic urologic surgeries to be performed locally. Los Robles is a 395-bed acute care facility. It is owned by Hospital Corp. of America of Nashville, Tenn., the nation’s largest hospital chain. Clinical trials will begin this fall for an advanced melanoma drug developed in a collaboration of Amgen Inc. and Merck & Co. Inc. Amgen, in Thousand Oaks, and Merck, in Whitehouse Station, N.J., are working on talimogene laherparepvec, an investigational viral immunotherapy, combined with MK-3475, an investigational antibody immunotherapy. Westlake Village Digital marketing company Conversant Inc. has acquired SET Media, a San Francisco digital-video technology company. Terms of the deal between Conversant of Westlake Village, and SET Media were not disclosed. Conversant, an online advertising broker, changed its name Feb. 4 from ValueClick Inc. The chief executive of a Westlake Village financial firm was sentenced to more than three years in federal prison for orchestrating a fraudulent loan scheme that caused $10.3 million in losses. Nicholaus Skultety, 30, was sentenced by Los Angeles federal court Judge Percy Anderson to 41 months in prison and ordered to pay $10.9 million in restitution. Skultety, chief executive of American Paramount Financial, and unidentified co-conspirators scammed at least 42 customers between 2009 and 2010. Skultety used the money to live lavishly, including taking 20 or more guests on a private jet to the 2010 Super Bowl in Miami and took many gambling trips to Las Vegas. Camarillo Interlink Electronics Inc. has opened two overseas subsidiaries, one to handle sales out of Europe and another for research and development in Asia. The Camarillo manufacturer of touch-pad and mouse technology has hired Neil Jarvie to head up Interlink Electronics Europe Ltd. in London as the vice president of global sales and business development.
