VALLEY NEWSMAKERS

Alexander Seropian was appointed to the newly created role of vice president of creative at Disney Interactive Studios. He will oversee creative development across Disney Interactive Studios’ portfolio of video games. Seropian joined Disney Interactive following the acquisition of Wideload Games Inc., a video game developer he founded in 2003. Prior to Wideload, he had been with Bungie Software. Why did Disney Interactive Studios create this new position? Disney has been in the video game business for a while. It started by licensing Disney properties to other video game makers, and then began developing and publishing in-house. Looking into the future, the next step is creating more original content (intellectual property). As the vice president of creative, it’s my job to foster an environment and culture to succeed at creating new and original games. What is the focus of the company you founded, Wideload Games Inc.? The company is a small video game developer with a mission of focusing on original games that have a sense of humor. We started with games for the Xbox that were rated “M” for mature. But we gravitated to more family oriented games. I think that’s where the market is going. Video games should be something that you can do with the whole family, and I think Disney is so well positioned to take advantage of this market. What are some games we can expect to see in the near future? Disney Sing It: Pop Hits it will come out October 6th; “A Christmas Carol,” which is based on the movie that will be coming out this year with Jim Carrey; Split/Second, an arcade racing game will be released in 2010; and “Alice in Wonderland.” We’re also planning on launching a role playing game next year based on “Pirates of the Caribbean.” All of the games are rated “E” for everyone, or “T” for teen. —Eric Billingsley Aviation BBA Aviation appointed Peg Billson president, BBA Aviation Legacy Support.
