Robin Choi is the region executive and a senior vice president of Wells Fargo’s Southland Valley region. He has been with the company for more than two decades and was promoted to his current title last year.
Choi loves fishing. When he isn’t working or spending time with his kids, Choi says he “thinks about fishing more than anything else in my spare time.” He particularly enjoys fishing for bass, though his biggest catch to date was a wahoo in Hawaii that weighed about 40 pounds.
His love for fish extends to aquariums. When Choi was a kid, his dad had an aquarium and now Choi has three of his own. The biggest is about 600 gallons and sits in his garage. He specializes in collecting freshwater fish from Latin America.
Choi says he is a big foodie, but not that into cooking. Mexican cuisine, he says, is his favorite and he is always looking for the best Chili Verde or Chili Colorado. He also enjoys Japanese and Korean food.
His first job was at a fish and chips restaurant in Gardena. He says that the job made him “appreciate every job I had since.” At the restaurant, he cooked fish sticks and made sauces. “I make a mean tartar sauce,” he jokes.
At work, Choi is focused on the present. His territory recently expanded “much further north than it did in the past,” and he says he is working to help his team members and clients be successful.
