Trio-Tech Resumes Full Operation at COVID-Impacted Plant in China

Trio-Tech International has resumed full operations at its facility in Tianjin, China.

The Van Nuys semiconductor testing equipment manufacturer had closed its plant in that Chinese city on Jan. 19 and the following day the city government removed lockdown measures imposed to test all city residents for COVID-19.

S.W. Yong, chief executive of Trio-Tech, said that that by Friday, the company’s Tianjin operations were working at 100 percent capacity.

“We are actively working on our production output to catch up with backlog,” Yong said in a statement.

However, Trio-Tech is resuming operations cautiously with stringent health and safety measures as required by the city government mandate, Yong added.

“Throughout the lockdown, our primary concern has been the safety of our employees, customers, suppliers and the Tianjin community as a whole,” Yong continued in the statement. “We expect to continue working closely with local authorities to achieve safe, long-term, COVID-19 compliant operations consistent with the needs of the Tianjin city authorities.”

Shares of Trio-Tech (TRT) closed Monday up 88 cents, or 14 percent, to $7.17 on the New York Stock Exchange, on a day when the Dow Jones closed up a fraction of a percent.
