Avita Medical Expands Globally

Northridge medical tech company Avita Medical, which specializes in skin and burn treatments, is furthering its global expansion. The firm is moving into the German, Austrian and Swiss markets and has appointed German distributor MSM Medical to exclusively sell its devices there. “We quickly saw that MSM Medical have the appropriate expertise, and well-proven capabilities in supporting the sales of medical device products in the German-language wound care market,” Adam Kelliher, UK Chief Executive of Avita, said in a statement. Avita has recently struck deals with other distributors in the UK, France, Japan and South Korea. It is currently negotiating with additional companies in key markets with the ultimate goal of further penetrating its burn and wound care products globally. Among the products the company manufactures is its line of ReCell devices, which allow physicians to quickly regenerate skin by using a small sample of the patient’s skin. Avita shares closed up 5 cents, or 3.2 percent, to $1.60 on the over-the-counter market.
