Hollywood Lighting Company Moving to Valley

Entertainment industry lighting manufacturer Mole-Richardson Co. is moving its headquarters and factory to Pacoima from Hollywood. The nearly 90-year old company will operate a 100,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in an industrial neighborhood near Hansen Dam. It also will have 36,000 square feet of office space, collaborative work space, showrooms and a museum. “As Mole-Richardson has continued to grow, we recognized a need to unite our team in a space that both celebrates our history and sets us up for continued progress,” Chief Executive Mike Parker said in a prepared statement. The new headquarters at 12154 Montague St. will be finished this spring. The company has hired interior architecture and planning firm H. Hendy Associates, in Newport Beach, and architectural firm Calvert Architectural Group, in Long Beach, to design the headquarters. Norm Wilson & Sons Inc., in Long Beach, will serve as the project’s general contractor. Mole-Richardson was founded in 1927 by Peter Mole, an Italian immigrant, design engineer Elmer Richardson and Fielding C. Coates, a studio electrician to provide lighting for the feature film industry. The company has received multiple awards from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences for its contributions to lighting technology. The museum planned for the new headquarters will highlight innovations and milestone productions that used Mole-Richardson lighting.
