San Diego Credit Union Buys Autoland

Car buying service provider Autoland Inc. has been acquired by Mission Federal Credit Union in San Diego. The Chatsworth firm was formerly owned by Telesis Community Credit Union, which failed and went into receivership in March 2012. The sale of Autoland was part of the liquidation of Telesis, also located in Chatsworth, handled by the National Credit Union Administration. Autoland was founded in 1971 and was purchased by Telesis in 2007. The firm provides auto buying services for Mission Federal and credit union members in 16 states. Chief Executive Debra Schwartz said this was the first acquisition of any kind for Mission Federal. “As with all of Mission Federal’s decisions, this one was also based on what’s best for our membership, employees, and credit union growth,” she said, in a prepared statement. Mission Valley operates 23 branches and has 160,000 members.
