Battery Technology Company Applies for Grant

A subsidiary of Enable IPC, a battery technology company in Valencia, has applied for a $500,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to develop a process to extend the life of lithium ion batteries. SolRayo Inc. previously received a $150,000 Small Business Technology Transfer Research Grant from the NSF. The company expects to be notified in early 2012 whether it received the new grant that would fund two years of research. The SolRayo technology has shown to decrease degradation of battery cathode materials, especially at high temperatures, the company said in a release. “This could provide the lithium-ion battery industry with an inexpensive solution to significantly increased battery life,” the company said.
