Image Entertainment Inc. showed little improvement in its third quarter earnings when compared to the same period a year ago. The Chatsworth-based distributor and producer of home entertainment content reported a net loss of $2.7 million, or $0.01 per diluted share, on revenues of $20.4 million for the quarter ending Sept. 30. In the same period in 2010, the company reported a net loss of $2.3 million, or $0.09 per diluted share, on revenues of $18.2 million. The company had an increase in sales in all its distribution methods – DVD and Blu-ray discs, digital, and broadcast. Strong performing titles during the quarter included “The Perfect Game,” about a team from Mexico that wins the Little League World Series; other top titles included the romantic comedy “35 and Ticking,” and a look at the “2011 NBA Champions: Dallas Mavericks, said Image Chairman and CEO Ted Green. “We’ve been aggressive in the acquisitions area over the past year and this quarter in particular. In addition, we launched a new label in September targeting the faith-based market, Slingshot Pictures,” Green said in a prepared statement.
