IPC The Hospitalist Co. Inc. announced Tuesday that it has acquired select operations of Cape Coral Hospitalists Inc. The North Hollywood company, which manages hospital-based and post-acute care practices, did not disclose financial details of the acquisition. The addition of Cape Coral, headquartered in Ft. Myers, will add about 13,000 annual patient visits to IPC’s total of nearly 5 million. This is the second purchase the company has made in Florida in the last 30 days, in addition to expansion in New Jersey, Kansas and Connecticut already this year. “Florida still holds significant growth potential for IPC in both acute and post-acute care facilities,” said Chief Operating Officer R. Jeffrey Taylor in a statement. Shares of IPC closed down 31 cents, or less than one percent, to $51.87 on the Nasdaq.
