Glendale Adventist Cancer Program Wins Award

Glendale Adventist Medical Center’s Cancer Services program won an Outstanding Achievement award from The Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. Cancer Services at Glendale Adventist is one of 106 currently accredited and newly accredited cancer programs in the United States. Glendale Adventist Medical Center is one of nine in California, and two in the Los Angeles region that were given this award. The other hospital in Los Angeles is Cedar-Sinai Medical Center. “We are honored to get this national award because it is another external endorsement of our commitment to improve the health care of our patients through quality care based on the best medical evidence available,” Dr. Boris Bagdasarian, medical director of Cancer Services said in a prepared statement. The award is granted to facilities that demonstrate a “commendation” level of compliance with seven standards in six areas: cancer committee leadership, cancer data management, clinical management, research, community outreach, and quality improvement. –Judy Temes
