Valley 200 2023: Paul Krekorian

Councilmember , Los Angeles City Council

Krekorian was first elected to the Los Angeles City Council in 2009. He represents the 2nd District, which includes eastern portions of the San Fernando Valley. He was elected unanimously by fellow councilmembers last year to be president of the City Council. As chair of the Budget and Finance Committee the previous 10 years, he helped to complete 11 balanced budgets. He also took the lead in ending oil and gas drilling in Los Angeles and initiated the drive to achieve 100% carbon-free electricity by 2035. As a member of both the Metro and Metrolink boards, he brought electric buses to the Valley and is expanding the Valley’s light-rail service.
