Image Deal Will Close Vegas Facility

Image Entertainment, Inc. will close its Las Vegas distribution facility after reaching a deal with the company that makes its CDs and DVDs to handle the company’s distribution. Sonopress LLC will take over distribution of Chatsworth-based Image’s home entertainment products by the end of the third quarter, the company said. Sonopress owns a distribution facility in Pleasant Prairie, Wisc. Shipping Image product from that plant will reduce time between manufacturing order and retail delivery, and provide enhanced promotional and value added services. Having Sonopress distribute as well as replicate for Image is a step in the strategy to increase customer service levels, expand operational capabilities, eliminate limitations on growth and reduce costs, said Image COO David Borshell. “The further integration of Sonopress into our supply chain process will take Image’s distribution offerings to new and higher levels,” Borshell said. On March 30, it was announced that Image had been acquired by BTP Acquisition Co., LLC for $132 million. The transaction is expected to close by July 31.
