The city of Glendale late Monday announced an additional $650,000 in funding to help small businesses recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.These recovery grant funds are in addition to $2.17 million in federal and local assistance approved earlier this year, the city said in a statement. City staff will host an online webinar about the funding on Thursday.A second round of small business grants will be available in November through two programs: A low-income small business grant funded through the CARES Act, and a small business recovery grant funded with Measure S money through the city.Both programs offer a one-time $5,000 grant; the low-income grant application period is from Nov. 2 to Nov. 6 and only applies to businesses that employ 25 or fewer low-income individuals, have been in operation for at least one year, properly zoned for commercial use in Glendale, and have not received federal pandemic funding.The small business recovery grant application period is from Nov. 16 to Nov. 20. Businesses must have been in operation for six months, employ 500 or fewer workers, have property zoned for commercial use in Glendale, and have not received a grant from the city’s first round of small business financing. Unlike Glendale’s low-income grant, this program allows businesses to apply regardless of whether they received federal pandemic funding.
