MGA Entertainment’s Campus Gets Green Light

The Los Angeles City Council approved a massive adaptive reuse project that aims to turn a former printing plant into a new company headquarters with amenities for the public, according to the L.A. Daily News. Officials on Wednesday gave the green light to the proposal by Van Nuys toymaker MGA Entertainment Inc. to build its new campus on the site of the Los Angeles Times’ former Chatsworth printing plant, replacing the facility with light industrial-creative office and developing additional parcels into retail, 660 multifamily rentals in four buildings and numerous amenities for the community. The plant, at 20000 W. Prairie St., is more than 255,000 square feet, while the total project is planned for 1.2 million square feet on nearly 24 acres. The proposal required a general plan amendment, zone changes, conditional use and other permits and additional elements. As part of the developer’s agreement with the city, MGA will provide an employee live/work incentive program for the residential housing. Plans were approved in July by the city’s Planning Commission.
