Health Net Wins Strong Regional Quality Rankings

Woodland Hills-based Health Net won high ratings for two of its health insurance plans from the National Committee for Quality Assurance, a private nonprofit that has helped drive health care quality improvement through measurement and accountability. Health Net of Arizona was the highest ranked commercial health plan in Arizona for the fifth consecutive year. Health Net of California’s Medicaid plan (Medi-Cal) was the highest ranked Medicaid plan in the state for the third year in a row, according to NCQA’s Private Health Insurance Rankings, 2011-12. NCQA evaluated more than 483 private health plans for its report and ranked 390 of those based on clinical performance, member satisfaction and NCQA Accreditation. To be eligible for rankings, health plans must authorize public release of their performance information and submit enough data for statistically valid analysis. Health Net Arizona was ranked 115 with an overall score of 83.1 while Health Net of California came in 211 with a score of 80.9. All scores are based on 100. “Health Net is focused on providing quality care and service to its members,” said Steve Sell, president of Health Net’s Western Region Health Plan in a statement. “We understand that great service means working effectively with our customers and medical providers.” Health Net provides and administers health benefits to approximately 6 million people across the country.
