Senator, California State Senate
Menjivar has represented California’s 20th State Senate district since 2022. As the daughter of Salvadoran immigrants and a first-generation American, her legislative efforts in Sacramento focus on protecting funding for state safety net programs. Before her Senate service, Menjivar served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2009 to 2016, and held various professional roles, including EMT, communications manager at Ambulife ambulance, and director of new program initiatives for Meet Each Need with Dignity (MEND). A resident of Panorama City with her wife and two dogs, she also holds a position as a commissioner on the Status of Women and Girls. She is a member of the San Fernando Valley Marine Corps League.
